Well the second SDI is not live. I can however toggle my IOHD control panel between sdi 1 and two. It is a pretty clean switch. Well now question is, how about sharing the encode settings for H264. I wasn’t pleased in the preview or the save to hard drive.

J, Thanks for the reply. I went to my local hardware shop this afternoon and I learned a lot. I realized that the IOHD was meant for a post prod tool involving decks, therefore the double SDI, That and maybe a combination of use from the Kona 3 which has 444 capability. Nonetheless, using wirecast and my IOHD works and if I leave the control panel up, I can simply toggle between sdi1 and 2 for a por mans switcher (sorry Bob Z)

One last question. If I have a setup for a live broadcast at a music studio and I come to a break, can I insert a commercial off of my FCP timeline or load a .mov into wirecast and have that audio take over so I can talk in the studio during the break and then switch back live?

Yeah, that’s what I feel too. My site is a video portal for my home town. I go to local businesses and shoot 2 minute webmercials and list them seperated by business type. My thought was to get (buy) collect off my own traffic, email addresses from local residents so when I complete a new video, I email an html email (constant contact) that has a poster frame with a play triangle on it explaining to click here to see the vid and then it goes to my page (hyperlinked) and they view the vid. So really, I need my whole community at once so the businesses think they are getting in front of everyone.

Thanks Craig, I’ll view the link and download. What I meant by clients connection is I am thinking of a mobile live broadcast business. I go to a club say, connect up, get onto the club’s dsl and I’m off. Right now, I am thinking of one camera (Z-1 connected to my miranda AD converter on a 50 foot bnc to my IOHD and finally to my MBP then to airport wireless to clubs dsl.
What do you think?

Thanks for the response Craig. How about upload speeds? If I want to offer my clients a live stream from their site and they have DSL, is that sufficient for 1 or two cameras? How about native HDV? Also, I suppose I need a streaming provider?
Could you briefly explain the workflow IE: attach two cams and set up layers. Make graphics ahead of time. Connect to client dsl. Send feed to streaming provider. (Do I make a web page and insert code or is the page stored on their site?)

Joe, BTW, I live in McKinney, TX. Small world.An editor is typically someone who edits video. They shape the story that is ultimately seen by deciding when to cut angles, add graphics, motion etc. Mostly they defer the captured audio to a sound engineer. This individual takes the final edited audio and then makes it sound nice. If you are simply preparing DVD audio, they add their own effects such as reverb, eq, compression etc. If there is video and he does a 5.1 surround mix, he generally wants to see the movie file so e can make audio adjustments that match the video. For example, at the end of the song, when the audience applauds, he might pan the crowd mics so you can imagine the crowd behind and around the listener.
DVD audio can come in several formats.
DVD Data. this could be full bandwidth aiff files
Dolby digital AC3 is common.
DTS audio some folks think is a better sound
SACD is full bandwidth audioHope this helps.

Yes it would. Audio through a home theatre (DVD) is usually always mixed differently. If it is 5.1, then it is a whole other session to mix. It could be done at the same time if the engineer has a 5.1 monitoring setup.
