Thanks Daniel, Hoped you’d answer. Listen, I did an H.264 in Compressor and it looked great at the 1000Kbs preset. I made the keyframes 30. I thought the more keyframes you have, the better the interpolation but you say make it 250. I don’t understand. Will the 1000Kbs choke my viewers or does that not matter except for the encode time? Also, I did not check the deinterlace in the frame controls but on the overview, it said deinterlace fast averaging. Does H.264 in Compressor automatically DI? And why is there a check box in the video filter tab if so?

One last thing. I just did another test with H.264 in Compressor and this time I used 1000 Kbs bit rate and it looks great! I also did NOT deinterlace. Will viewers have a hard time watching this vid due to the encode rate or will it simply just increase the file size?

Do you mean open the HTML pages in photoshop or just all of the indiovidual images?

I think the point you may have missed with Bob’s commentary is that it is awful suspicious that it was working fine at first and then you tried out the MXO2. Even though you state you removed those drivers, could there be something left on your system? Just seems like the box which works pefectly and did work perfectly for you, now does not run perfectly for you AFTER you installed another hardware solution and possibly software and drivers that MIGHT not be totally removed.

Wirecast on a mac will work. If you bring in HDV, you will need the HDV plugin. If you’re on a mac, Matrox MXO2 will take your HDSDI signal into wirecast and so wil the AJA IOHD but if you are live switching your switcher can send the HD SDI stream to either or you can downconvert from your switcher. Tri Caster does it all but not $1000.

The IOHD + Wirecast is a perfect solution albeit more than a $1000 and less than $5000. What I am confused with though is why HD SDI to HDV? Is the source greater than HDV Tom? If it is HDV and you can go firewire to Wirecast, you are about $550.

Thanks first off. I was taking uncompressed in HDSDI into my IOHD. I passed that signal into wirecast and it was recognized. The preset for Wirecast encoded that signal. I used the dsl/cable pre set for H.264. I set the keyframes to 60 and the data rate at 350 KB/s. The camera was a Z-1 with a Miranda converter taking uncompressed component to HDSDI.
I have encoded many vids this same way with the flix VP6 .flv and the vids are superb.

One other important thing. My signal was a 1080i hdsdi to my iohd. Wirecast saw that. So my test was a fixed camera and we walked about. The interlacing was HORRIBLE. What can be done about that?

I owned the IOHD before I had the need for a switcher. I was just trying to utilize the 2 SDI inputs and Wirecast. The Tricaster Pro has 6 DI in’s. That’s about $7K.

Billy, I did my tests last night. First of all, I downloaded the trial version of wirecast. That has the HDV plugin. I connected 2 hdsdi cameras to my IOHD and only one cam shows up in wirecast. If I leave the aja control pane open, i can toggle between cam 1 and 2. This a very poor boy way of doing a 2 cam shoot through wirecast. In my case though, I can’t afford the alternative which is a tricasterfor $5K. That’s what you need to look into.
