Hello Richard,
I’m new to this forum but thought I’d tell you my experience with my IOHD. I actually have the same MBP as you and am conected to two 4 tray raid zero’s with my Sonnet 2 port esata expresscard. I have edited a 3 cam 1080i60 Shoot. My timeline is 2 hours long and has the following tracks – all pro res HQ
V1-V3 3 40 minute tapes from HDCam into Pro res HQ
V4 3 angle Multiclip edited
V5-7 Color corrected angles of multiclip broken out into each track
V8 Graphics and lower thirds
V9 Self contained QT file of finished edit
A1-3 Original on camera audio
A4 Multiclip audio
A5 PCM mastered stereo audio
a6-11 Pcm 5.1 mastered audio
You guys may think I am crazy for keeping all of this on one sequence but it is easy for me to maintain sync. Anyway, with this much on my timeline I always get the red render. I mute all of the audio but the 5.1 and I go to Orange render which for me plays back fine through my Home theatre system perfectly. If I mute all of my video except for the final edit, I go to grey and definitely don’t have any problems. This is a really cool way to do my edits instead of burning and watching and fixing and burning etc. I make all of my changes by simply muting tracks, editing and muting again – sometimes before I make my Self Contained final track. I notice no lag at all.
Have you tried to make a self contained file of the track plus filter and lay it above and see how that plays?
Jeff
