I’m not sure I 100% follow what you’re needing to do but no, you can’t relink or change the clip the edit references to.

What’s the issue you’re trying to solve?

YouTube re-encode anything you upload so it’s not really going to be a final cut issue. Either something’s messed up on the YouTube ends yen they encoded the clips or it’s a playback issue on that particular Mac.

YouTube are, of course, free to change their encoding at any time, and maybe this time it’s not for the better.

Have you tried uploading again? Maybe second time lucky.

Yeah, I know – wouldn’t make sense if it was. I was referring to the original poster’s inability to delete parts of a synced clip.

Maybe I’m missing something? I can blade any clip in an angle or mark a range and hit delete and it gets removed, leaving the rest of the clip in place.

As far as I know, in the angle editor you just drag the clip into place. Gap clips don’t apply. Or you can select the segment and re-sync it.

Which plugin? XFX handler from Spherico might be handy. At the very least it will tell you the path where FCPX thinks the plugin should be ad gives you a way to globally disable/remove it so you can reapply it with the currently installed version.

I had thought the trial took any length media but only output the first 60 seconds. Anyway, just did a quick test and EditReady couldn’t load a straight MPEG2 program stream.

The instructions on the Squared 5 web site that I linked to in my earlier reply should still work if you need to instal the MPEG2 Quicktime component.

Unfortunately MPEG2 is pretty much dead and gone as far as Apple are concerned.

I’d take a look at the trial version of EditReady from Divergent Media and see if that works for you:

I’d still suggest using some more modern software like EditReady or just letting FCPX optimise the media on its own.

Have you tried Compressor? Or maybe something like EditReady? MPEG Streamclip works for me but it’s getting fairly long in the tooth.

Is there a reason you’re not just letting FCPX convert it? And the inevitable, do the files play OK in QuickTime?
