Worxs4X is a great tool and I use it all the time. An alternative is to round trip the project to Resolve and get it to do the media management, which is what I did before I started using Worx4X. Both do a good job although I use Worx4 just because it’s built for the job and there’s little less messing around than bringing the XML into Resolve.

There’s no real way to lock the timeline, it’s be handy at times and definitely worth sending feedback about.
Having said that, I regularly send projects to other people for finishing and have never had an issue – even when sending FCPX projects to other FCPX users – you just have to trust that the people you are giving the project to are professionals who won’t change it. I’ve been using FCPX for a long time and I’d find it hard to accidentally change something and not realise I’d done it.
And while FCPX may not be able to lock the timeline, most of the people I hand off projects to don’t tend to use it in their work. Colour grading tends to be in Resolve via XML – and Resolve can lock the timeline before any work starts. Audio goes to Pro Tools or Logic and again, users of those apps can lock the timeline so it’s never been a big deal if FCPX can’t.

This is something you’re more likely to do in Motion, After Effects or Fusion than Final Cut but you essentially track points on the background to create motion data, then you apply that same data to the object you’re compositing so that it moves in sync. It’s called “match moving” if you want to google for how-to info.

I’ve never had any issues with any OS update since Lion – but I *always* do a clean install. I see it as a chance to do some virtual housekeeping once every year or so. My advice would be to hold off any update until you can make time back things up and start from scratch.

Ah – I get what you mean… no, you can’t resize any of the interface on the second screen. It would make sense to do so I guess although if I’m editing, I prefer not being interrupted by anything.
Use the feedback menu item to send a feature request to Apple.

No you can’t resize the window if you’ve set it to full screen mode but you can command tab into any app you want on either screen. Not really sure what you’re wanting to achieve.

This seems to be a common theme in various forums since the latest FCPX update.
Apple have never been afraid to adopt the latest and greatest at the expense of older hardware and software. It’s part of their DNA. If we use their stuff, it’s part of the deal.
The alternative is to continue support and become like the bloatware that was the Windows platform – made almost unworkable by the need to pile code base upon code base in an effort to continuously support legacy apps and hardware.

Yes it can be annoying when one of my laptops or iMacs or Mac Pros drops of the edge into obsolescence but they usually support hardware for half a decade – that’s a long time in computer years – and outside hardware, most of the reasons I see not to update the OS aren’t anything to do with Apple – it’s usually complaints about third party app X or end-of-life app Z no longer working – but so it goes. Bitch about it to those companies that can’t keep up, not Apple.
Meanwhile I’m getting exactly what I signed up for – a modern NLE running on a modern OS and relatively modern hardware. Couldn’t be happier.
Or that’s my 2c worth on the whole update thing anyway.

As above – or in the clip browser, select the clip, choose ‘open in timeline’ and move the audio as required?

Sounds like the camera is maybe a Sony? If that’s the case then MTS is what the files are. Use an app like EditReady to rewrap them.
