Have you actually set the angle name metadata in each clip so that FCPX knows you have two different angles?

I think if you can’t get there using the bBuilt in tools then you’d be better off taking the footage into a specialist correction tool like Davinci Resolve.

If its just a single dot you could even just key frame opacity and position in FCPX. It’d only take a couple of minutes to create a repeating pulsing dot compound clip and then you could move that around the map.

I’m always amazed & amused that people see the fact that Adobe, or whatever third party developer you care to name, chooses not to support FCPX as a failing in X. FCPX is ahead of the curve and I’m sure it’s no easy task getting from it to apps based on thinking from the last century – but i have faith that eventually the rest of the world will catch up.

Unless we’re talking at cross purposes, you just open the timeline, select a range and choose your appropriate share option – Final Cut will export just the selected range.

I’d personally do a clean install or at least a re-install of FCPX after the event to make sure all the required components were still there.

Got to agree with that. There’s a lot more to the FCPX keyer than meets the eye and (like most everything) you really need to read the manual, watch some tutorials and practice to make the most of it. Once you’ve mastered it, there’s very little better.
If you do need something above and beyond the built in keyer then I can highly recommend EggScreen Pro from https://www.redeggproductions.com. It has a whole learning curve all of it’s own but the results can be spectacular.

Not sure why the change to the ‘parent’ compound clip isn’t carrying through but is there a reason you aren’t just disabling the camera track using the audio properties of the version on the timeline rather than opening the compound clip? …or you could expand the audio components and turn off the unwanted track that way?
