Thanks so much for the info. I’ve experimented unsuccessfully with some of the settings you mention but now emboldened to try more with a better sense of direction — esp. need to look into “crease.”

While typing the question, I came up with a work-around. If I make the voronoi with the text into editable, then the crumbling works when I apply the hard body tag to the grouped pieces that are created. But there should be a way to do it while keeping the text object, right?

Thanks for the reply! Yes, the checkbox in the locked effects panel is about as far as I got. Wish I’d thought of it before using the effect all around my precomps 😉
