Is there some way to set up a checkbox or script that allows me to easily “mute” and “unmute” all occurrences of a particular plugin within a project? For example, I’m working in a project with multiple uses of a shadowing effect throughout – but it’d be nice to just switch on and off the plugin in all those occurrences at once – to speed up working or test renders.

I’m currently pick whipping opacity of the plugin to a single slider control; but wondering if there a more slick on-off option. Sorry if the answer is obvious or under my nose. It’s a big, obscuring nose 😉

Hey Jeff, in short – no easy way. Even if there would be a plugin for this, it should have somehow a list of all available effects applied everywhere in the project. Sounds a bit of a loophole.

As a bit of an improvement – instead of slider control, use checkbox – at least it will be on/off by a single click, not a slider drag. Also, when linking params in the project, make sure to “lock” additional effects panel, that you would have access to it from all comps (might be doing this already though)

Thanks for the reply! Yes, the checkbox in the locked effects panel is about as far as I got. Wish I’d thought of it before using the effect all around my precomps 😉
