Lol and I thought I was going to sleep tonight.

Yeah, I’m suggesting that you transcode all your 320×240 material to a different codec than ProRes. I suspect – merely suspect- that prores was tested at SD 720×480 and higher.

When you see that red screen, something’s not right in the video pipeline.

I did some quick searching around…and found this Fix my red screen.

I’m not endorsing it, or know about it. I suspect that the video pipeline/driver is screwy since 10.6.6 – that apple has the wrong nVidia driver (I’m not personally seeing it, because I’m running later driver for CUDA stuff from NVidia.)

I was going to point you to the direct link on nVidia’s web site, but hell, just try that Fix my red Flash app and let us know.

Yeah, I don’t think that ProRes was ever checked for those frame sizes. Try Photo-Jpeg @100% or uncompressed and I bet it goes away.

Stretch,

I’m willing to bet that apple never intended prores to be used like this. I might suggest a different codec – even uncompressed, because at 320×240, there’s not significant size/data demands on the system.

I’m confused – are you saying ‘me too’? Or are you Jessie?

If I was getting that with prores, I’d be likely to believe that a corrupt pref, ram or video driver was the cause.

I understand and see you’re frustrated. There are always solutions – and forums are just one of them (but at a great price – free! Remember, nobody here is paid, and we’re doing it to help others.)

I may have a solution for you. You might want to try burn

It’s an open source DVD burning/authoring application. There seems to be a link for it’s use on a Non-Intel macintosh

P.S. I know you’re frustrated. If something is broken, it needs to be fixed, not worked around. Work arounds are great for today, but really box you in for the future.

Do you have iMovie? What comes out of FCP isn’t going to be what goes on the DVD. It has to be an authored MPEG-2 Video TS folder structure.

If you have iMovie, you can do it on your mac. If you don’t, you’re going to have to fix compressor because it’s the underlying structure for MPEG2 creation along with DVDSP.

Nope. Avid is tied broadcast video formats. The iPhone and iPod touch are optimized for widescreen versions of those formats as well.

From this page for the iPod Touch

TV and video
H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
Support for 1024 by 768 pixels with Apple VGA Adapter; 576p and 480p with Apple Component AV Cable; 576i and 480i with Apple Composite AV Cable (cables sold separately)

It handles standard video formats just fine (480p, 720p) and while it can store larger formats, they’re meant for display over the VGA adapter.

I suggest you go back and talk about 720p or 480p widescreen.
