Compressor has a setting for youtube, it should work fine for Vimeo – but I’d like you to try any other setting (something that should be fairly fast would be a setting like ProRes 422)
I suspect you have a corrupt piece of media causing problems.

October 11, 2011 at 10:53 am in reply to: which settings in compressor for MOV-Container, PAL(SD)-resolution, DV-CodeIn the settings box of compressor, you should see the following folders:
Apple Devices, DVD, Formats, Other workflows. If you don’t see these 4, something is wrong.
In Other Workflows/Advanced format conversions/Standard Definition
There should be a DV-PAL preset.Alternately, you should be able to type DV into the search box of the settings window.
Let me know what happens

Everything is forward compatible. So yeah, if you capture DV&HDV, that, the projects, media and even the effects are forward compatible.

Several desperate things to try.
Yank all the media offline.
Create a new user (OSX)
Uninstall and reinstall.Given what you’ve told us (not enough – please – system type, specs, how far it gets into the boot process), these are the ‘hail’ mary ideas off the top of my head.

None of the crash report is helpful.
Try resetting background processing (under the Compressor menu)
Here’s apples technote on resetting compressor.
Definitely look at Compressor repair.

It’s the ‘Best” deinterlace settings that is killing you. Turn that back to normal and see how bad the compression time is.

October 5, 2011 at 4:53 pm in reply to: Quicktime thumbnail/poster time changed in Lion? The problem with the head frame being the displayed default is this:
Much video fades from black (useless); raw clips often have a slate as the first frame.
How they came up with their system isn’t known to me.

FCP has been working fine from the day 10.6.8 was out for me.
The drives being on your desktop is irrelevant – that’s a finder configurable choice (prefs in finder)
Did the names of the drive or folders change – that’s why a path is offline. Once you connect the first, the rest should relink.

Jeff G
