You’re talking years ago? Yeah, there were a number of headaches with FCP 1-3 and what’s called unlocked audio for DV.
There was more than one way to encode the audio to miniDV tapes; and FCP would struggle – apple would have specific scripts for specific cameras; often people wouldn’t know about them, they wouldn’t use them, they wouldn’t read a manual.More common on Canon cameras – but today? Nah, not at all.

If you have a firewire based system, FCP can’t push the HD stream down the firewire chain). Actually it can for HDV, but you ant an SD out.
Nest your sequence in a DV sequence. Yes, it will be letterboxed (well, HD is 16×9 and SD is (mostly) 4×3. Square peg, round hole.) If you don’t mind losing the sides, you could blow this up. This will output from FCP, but will likely require rendering for output.

The easiest way is to save them directly – while looking at settings in MC, you can go to your name (drop down) and save your settings (and load them somewhere else).

If you suspect that it’s subcap, there’s a chance that there is a corrupt font. I know I was getting a number of segmentation faults and had to pull subcap from a system (a version or two ago.)
If it’s a specific piece of media, you can cut your timeline in half, check it then check the other half. Continue until you find the bad piece of media. Try also to take all your media offline and see if you can scrub through the timeline without crashing.

MPEG-2 files from a DVD were never meant to be edited; MPEG2 is a distribution format.Still, occasions come up, like yours, where it’s the source material; FCS has real time playback/rendering optimized for broadcast video playback; HD and SD in codecs that are optimized for editing/output. Compressor actually can’t fix this.
With MPEG-2 files like these, the most common way to handle them is to run them through MPEG Streamclip, an open source, free utility. You can then convert them to QuickTime files, DV/NTSC, audio Linear PCM 48k, 16bit stereo, and they’ll natively play fine in FCP.

Build a preset with your watermark and encoding (h.264) placed as you like.
Then turn this into a droplet.
Drop your files onto it.All the FCS3 (and prior) apps are 32 bit; therefore limited to 4 gigs of ram.
If you have a gig ethernet switch, you could setup 2-3 machines in a QMaster farm.
If you’re spending money like that, I’d also recommend taking a quick look at the solutions from Sorenson and Telestream for clustering.Best,

Not as far as I’m aware – it’s still flash. I don’t even think you could easily get it out of the FLV wrapper. The whole reason youtube had to rencode everything above 360 is to get it in a non-flash format.

I actually fired up DVDSP for the first time in awhile.
When you get to your machine – you should be able to get access to what the break point allowable markers are under the Disc/Volume tab of the Inspector (for the disc)
You might want to move the movie into VTS 1 – the VTS switch allows you to move content from one VTS to another; there are times when programming and speed of loading can be improved by moving menus into a single VTS. Last, when you have a possibly corrupt MPEG2, by moving elements into different VTS you can identify what may be causing the problem.
Does the DVD work as a Video_TS folder from your HD (Where the break point is irrelavant?)
Ok, so, when we’re frustrated at the back and forth…here’s my brute force solutions.
Split the movie in two parts, 90 min and the remaining 64. Then I’d have the end of the first track point at the second – which should make DVDSP have an easier time figuring out where the break point should be.
More brute force: create a second pair of compressions – one that fits a single layer and a second that redoes the main compressed video a little smaller, just to see what happens.Best,

It’s been awhile since I dealt with a problem like this – so please forgive my aging brain. The last time I dealt with it (out of frustration) we dropped in 4 dozen markers ‘near’ where we guessed the point would be and let automatic happen.
First, I see you’ve dropped in extra markers…
Under Format a Disc, where it says break point – do you have any valid markers? Valid ones will be black/invalid in gray.Second, on the outline view, there’s a VTS switch in the upper right corner – I’m curious where your track is…VTS1? 2?
