…nevermind guys & gals, i recalled luminance selections only work on Channels then added this to my reference notes, although if anyones suggestions on best use of luminance selection to isolate hilights, midtones and shadows or any range between precisely please let me know.
    Thanks again,

  • Hi guys, spoke a bit too soon: should have asked how to enable mask mode selection for all keyframes simultaneously?, if possible,.
    Thx again,
    J

  • Hi Mark,
mask mode selections’ re-enabled, but when i determine colorspace i’ll reply it, unless you might say which menu displays it?
    Appreciate it,
    J

  • Thanks much Kalle,
    that did the trick quick

  • ..will give it a try Jay, never used Guides so will look ’em up 1st,
    thx

  • ..sure Dave, heres a near exact description:
imagine mountains1 at the horizon, and another line of mountains2 just infront of it closer to the viewer.
Both mountains have masks along their tops and bases, and what i need to do is align the mountainTop1 points and tangents on mask1, with the mountainTop2 mask2 points and tangents.(screenshot if needed)

ie: need to align a mask point position&tangent with that of a different mask point, one at a time or all at once,

    Thanks again,
    J

    Thanks Mike,
agreed, Ted is right, so if i understand correctly i’ll try: make an alpha of the 3d masks, then perhaps use Auto-Trace on the 2d alphas. Please correct this or suggest best method if i’ve misunderstood.

And thanks for AE Projection Mapping links and suggestions, i’ll check them out right now.

    Talk soon,

    Hi Ted,
    thanks for your quick reply.
Projecting a 3d mask is like the “Curve on Surface” functions most 3d modeling software has: a 3d curve is converted to 2D by projecting it onto a 2d surface. This is not the same as simply disabling its AE 3d layer, which does not maintain path x,y vertex positions and tangents.

But your suggestion may work and be the easiest remedy IE: make an alpha of the 3d masks, then perhaps use Auto-Trace on the 2d alpha.

Although, it would be a good backup plan if possible to also project 3d (layer) Mask onto 2d surface, if you’ve any suggestions on doing so?
    Thx again,
    J

  • ..thanks again Kalle,
of all the great suggestions yours you know was the working solution. I’ll save time and try yours 1st 🙂
Fortunately, cool plugin tech also scripted expression, which they may retail to supply PS free transforms in AE for ancient, path editing\editors demand. I’ll dig in to cornerpinning etc. for all potential to that end.
    your helps’ fundamental,
    J
