I’ve placed the clip into the viewer window and then File/Edit to Tape. Put the timecode of the start of the clip from the Viewer into the In time of the Edit-to-Tape window and then clicked on the Assemble icon.

What do you mean by “drag the sequence to assemble”?

Thanks for the suggestions.
The only Software Updates available are for iApplications, Safari and AirPort.
Permissions have been repaired numerous times mostly with nothing to report.

Sounds like you’re running into the limitations of the codec.
Red type or logos never look really good here either in the Apple codecs.

You could try a different codec like Sheer.

That seems quite odd. I work at a facility with a SNS SANMP. That disconnect does take awhile, but it only takes a few minutes here not an hour. The facility has 2 macs connected.

FCS 2 latest is FCP 6.0.3. It won’t show up in Software Update. I think it’s a pro apps updater that actually contains the latest. You could try it and see if that fixes your issue.

Dan,
What are the “grading issues” you are or intend to deal with? Are you planning on using Color on your clips?
If the clips are recaptured as ProRes will Color actually handle them okay? I’ve heard there’s been some issues in this regard, could someone enlighten us please if this is the case?

Dylan seems right about his expectations.
About 18 months ago I used this feature extensively for a super wide screen multi-monitor project using FCP 5.1. Each screen was a separate monitor sequence, but the entire composite display was a sequence made up of the four monitor sequences each in their respective position. Every time I changed one of the monitor sequences the change was reflected in the composite. I couldn’t do that in Avid and thought this was a great feature of FCP.
Today I’m using 5.1.4 on a G5 and I just tried it and it works the same. If I mark and In and a Out or if I overwrite the entire sequence, all the changes are reflected in the composite sequence.
If it’s not like that in FCP 6.xx, then is it a bug or a feature removal?

1. Does the clip play smoothly from the tape machine?
2. Does the 29.97 captured clip play smoothly in Quicktime?
3. If yes to all the above, I’d try Twixtor
