December 5, 2008 at 12:31 am in reply to: Can’t Output 4 Channels of Audio When Editing To Tape SDI To a Digibeta DeckA little condescending… I have taken a FCP training class. If you learned every single thing about FCP from a class there would be no reason to have a forum.

December 4, 2008 at 9:00 pm in reply to: Can’t Output 4 Channels of Audio When Editing To Tape SDI To a Digibeta DeckI wanted to post the solution in case anyone else has this problem. Kona Tech support is probably the best support out there for any product.
After checking all the sequence settings and audio video output settings he had me check something I’ve never known about. If you control click just next to the lock on on the audio portion of the sequence, you have to make sure that track 1 is set to 1, track 2 is set to 2, track 3 is set to 3, and track 4 is set to 4.
I hope that helps someone out there.

Thanks! So why does the deck even let you set it to 23.98?
So laying off at 59.94 only allows me to lay off just over 30 mins. Why do they make the tapes to read 66?

July 11, 2008 at 5:38 pm in reply to: 59.94 on a 23.98 Timeline…Or Frame Rate Conversion?Using the Compressor Conversion setting worked great. Thanks! Is this new file the exact same as the footage originally captured at 23.98, or is there slight variation, detectable or undetectable?
Thanks

I just realized I said the 59.94 was recorded on to a P2 card….It was recorded on the FS-100.

July 11, 2008 at 5:14 pm in reply to: 59.94 on a 23.98 Timeline…Or Frame Rate Conversion? The column on the left shows 59.94 frames for the one camera angle in question. This footage was not captured since it was recorded to P2 cards with the Panasonic HVX-200. It was a straight transfer of Quicktime MOVs to the computer.
The footage does need to be rendered, but after that I can’t tell a difference. I read about updating Quicktime to 7.5 so the Frame Rate Converter will work, but it still gives me the same error. I’m not even sure though if the Frame Rate Converter will work for this purpose.
The reason it was filmed wrong was because the shooter had the FS-100 on Quicktime instead of Quicktime PN.

So my question is when you capture the format, (720-59.94p – 24p – 24p Over 60p (2-3 Pulldown)), you check the box in FCP that says “Remove Advanced Pulldown (2:3:3:2)” which will give you 23.98.
How is this different form the 1080 format that is called 24pA? Doesn’t the 24pA mean that you will extract flagged frames to get 23.98?
Thanks

So even if it’s not called “24pA”, as I understand it you can still shoot:
720 24p at 59.94, then when capturing with the Advanced Pulldown Button checked you end up editing with clips that are 23.98. Is this right?
To me it sounds just like 24pA.

Are you sure? I thought you could shoot 24pA when shooting 720. I know you can with the HVX-200.
