Ivan is correct that the “N” key turns off snapping, but I’m not positive that’s what you’re talking about. Snapping is when you drag things around the timeline they will jump to the edges of other things. “N” will toggle that feature.
But it kind of sounds to me, Ed, like you’re talking about when you drop a long clip on the timeline and the playhead jumps to the end of that clip. If that is what you’re talking about then no, you can’t turn it off. But you CAN hit the up-arrow key to move you to the start of a clip. So just drop it and then hit “up.” It’s not quite as good as turning that off, but it’s the next best thing.
