I would suspect that the Highpoint card is your lowpoint. I would recommend replacing it with the ATTO ExpressSAS R348. In all our testing with Highpoint, we didn’t have good luck and we’re talking extensive testing.

Also keep in mind that most third party plug-ins have not been updated for CS3 and Universal Binary.

Apple ProRes 422:
Delivers improved encoding performance for Power Mac G5 computers.

Perhaps this is code for “Apple ProRes 422 now Altivec Optimized for HD capture”?

The question then becomes, how fast a G5 box do you need?
