    Thanks for the reply.
I understand you love the Panasonics. Then you would agree that the 100B is the best choice in its priceclass if one would want to get away from the ‘videolook’ as far as possible and shoot a doc in 16×9/25P?

Well, Jerry, went full circle as far as uninstalling and reinstalling both hard- and software (combo update- again) and got my mouse and keyboard to work again and everything seems stable but… still that digital crap on my desktop and in my video.

Is this one for my Apple Extended Warranty..?

Got myself in a real mess now. Removed and reseated the video card, restarted the G5, tried to mount a disc image but no response. Tried to Repair Permissions, halfway through got the message Disk Utility lost connection to the disk manager or something of the sort. Had to quit- same thing when I tried again.
Then my mousepointer froze. Reinstalled the card twice but mouse remains frozen. Tried different USB-ports- nothing.
Want to run the Hardware Test but the disc-tray doesn’t respond. (Functions like the up and down-keys and Enter-key do respond.)

How am I going to get out of this mess? Please help.

    Thanks,

    Wolf

Thanks for the reply, Jerry. Unplugged and replugged the DVI-connector and it actually got worse. I tried to wiggle the video card but it felt so rock solid.
I’ll take it out and reseat it and will report on the the result.

    Thanks again,

FCP 5 has been crashing on me erratically about a week after upgrading(all the apps). I work with DV only. Now it won’t even launch. Last night I exported a short clip using compressor and that seemed to have killed FCP definitively. Tried everything including reinstall but it won’t even launch anymore…

    Anyone have an inkling?

I’m now using a consumer DV-camera and it plays through fine. I heard of other people using ‘cheap’ cameras for this purpose but how about proper audio.
I use the S-video to connect my camera with the monitor but when I use the mini-jack (splitting into 2 audio-cables) to my amp for the audio, there’s a slight but very unprofessional – and annoying- buzz. (and I lose the stereo sound)
When I opt for the Use Internal Audio to monitor my audio, the audio plays thru the audio-cables and the video thru firewire/s-video and it’s out of sync…

How do others solve this when using a camera to monitor projects?
