  • For the record and for what it is worth, my initial question had to do with importing Z-150 video into FCP7. I have since thrown in the towel and started editing with Premiere Pro CC latest version. Catalyst Browse is a great program and I am slowly but surely getting used to Premiere Pro. I was very attached to FCP7 and will miss it. I managed to get by dragging the .mfx files into FCP7. But that way goes danger.

Thanks everybody for contributions (and I used M100 20+ years ago and it helped my business transform, then).

  • Thanks. I only did it out of desperation. Fortunately it worked. Do you have a preference between Premiere Pro And Resolve coming out of years of FCP7.

  • I was struggling to get my Z-150 video into FCP7 and settled with just dragging the MFX files to a folder and drive and then importing them to my project. Of course there is no metadata, but I can work with the files. I am still hanging on with FCP7 even though I have an Adobe Creative Cloud license. The FCP7 system is tied to a legacy OS and an old Kona video card. But am I to understand that the new Clip Browser works with Premiere Pro (and will bring the metadata in with it)? I doubt I will be able to include the Kona card in the mix, so that will still be an issue. Thanks, Jay

    Thanks David,

I stumbled on these guys independently. So far they are great to work with. I look forward to my camera’s return.

Sorry for the double post. can’t seem to delete this.

I have the first generation EX-1. When I am shooting in a loud rock music environment I have a very hard time with the internal camera mic sound distorting. I have tried auto and have tried manual with the levels set as low as -30 and I still get distortion (the classic over modulated sound). Does this sound like a mic problem or did I not throw a switch somewhere?

Sadly I came out with identically name clips for totally different shots. I also ended up with missing footage which I believe is related to the clip naming problem.

Thanks for entering into this, Shane. The format, sadly, is HDV. It is a 4 year old project. I believe the files are uniquely named. The reel assignment question will take some time to track down. My editor may have been loosey goosey with this.

I have read things that suggest that this could be a “permissions” issue. I have been the administrator since before day one of the project.

If you are asking how my original SxS cards worked, they were fine. And the Transcend Class 6 and Sandisk Class 2 were good too.

This is slightly tangential but I still have firmware 1.12 for my Ex-1 and am not conveniently located to a sony service center. I also would like to avoid having a week without the camera. With my luck I would brick the camera if I tried the firmware update. That said, I was also an early adopter of MxR. I bought a few of Class 2 Sandisk 16 gb and Class 6 Transcend 16gb cards. Are these cards still recommended by those with my configuration? I have had one Transcend card fail–fortunately without a loss of data.

Are there other reliable brands? I’d really like to add a couple of 32gb cards that will work with 1.12 Firmware.

I highly recommend the MXR Card.

    Thanks,

    Jay
