media manager
I have a big project (2 hours) with lots of multiclips. When I try to media manage the thing thing to another drive I end up with lots of media that will not relink to the new “reduced” project. I had done this countless times before, successfully. The project’s media totals about 260gb. It therefore is about a 2-3 hour process. After trying to accomplish the job three times unsuccessfully, I tried to just copy the media manually to another drive. This time I get the “contains one or more items busy that cannot be changed” screen. That would be a clue, I guess. I googled that text and don’t see any success stories out there. I am on OS 10.5.8 and Final Cut 6.0.6.
Any help would be most appreciated.

So the newly created project doesn’t relink to the media that was copied? What format is this media? Does all of it have unique names, and reel numbers?

Thanks for entering into this, Shane. The format, sadly, is HDV. It is a 4 year old project. I believe the files are uniquely named. The reel assignment question will take some time to track down. My editor may have been loosey goosey with this.
I have read things that suggest that this could be a “permissions” issue. I have been the administrator since before day one of the project.
