  • Peter,

    Thanks for your response. I tried a couple of months ago to get thru after you suggested here that I call support. I got sent to voicemail as I recall. I left my info and never received a response. I ended up Pre rendering different elements to get it to work.

    Today I called, it rang and rang and I eventually got someone in sales. He took my info, but after a few hours, I ended up just trying again. On the third call I did get someone.

    Unfortunately, it seems this isn’t going to be an easy fix. We tried several things including uninstalling and reinstalling. So far we haven’t found a solution. I either get an extruded eps in one comp or another, but not both.

    I sent them my project files, and they’re supposed to call me back. This Issue has been a problem for me from the beginning, so I’m not sure the files I sent will help.

    Bummer us I’m on a tight deadline. I sincerely want to love this plugin. If I could get it working on more than one layer/in one comp, we’d be there.

    I’ll let you know where we cone out. I hope they call
    Me back today because this is due in Friday.

    Crap! I’m in trouble now…

    Media 100 is throwing error codes left and right with videos after this update.

    Sorry… I took the lazy way out. I was working in the wee hours, and didn’t take the time to look it up. If I can get my issues worked out, I think I’ll love this plugin. It has a really nice look and feel, and takes After Effects’ 3D to the next level.

    The only feature I see missing is the ability to create custom reflections. That would be a really nice feature.

    Anyway, thanks for the number.

    I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Now I get this error when the file opens:

    “BCC Extruded EPS” has version mismatch. Code version is 7.0 and PiPL version is 7.0

    Can you give me that number? More problems today.

    My current problem is that it works while I’m setting stuff up, but disappears when I render.

    Frustrated!

  • Thanks a ton for your help Kevin. Here’s the final piece using the expressions you provided. I couldn’t have done it without you!

  • You are a saint man.

    I’m a little embarrassed that I didn’t think about the fact that the opacity should be pasted in the opacity property. I’m low on expression knowledge, but that was just dumb.

    I’ll see if I can get this to work.

    I really, really appreciate this. You’ve helped me a ton.

    Thanks!

  • Ok… scratch that. When I paste in the opacity expression first I don’t get any errors.

    I’ve played around with the max and minimum value, but I wasn’t getting anything.

    Right now my Y value is 359.8. That’s touching the “paper”. At about 325, I want the shadow to be completely transparent and blurred.

    I don’t understand the expression well enough to know what to change.

    Again, I very much appreciate your help. And if you’ve had enough, I completely understand.

  • Kevin,

    I went back and set up my comp using the first expression and a layer control effect. It works perfectly.

    I’m such an expressions idiot, I’m having trouble applying the opacity expression after that. I keep getting errors.

    Am I just supposed to paste in:

    target = effect(“Layer Control”)(“Layer”);

    maxO = 100;

    minO = 0;

    maxD = 300;

    minD = 0;

    d = length(position,target.position);

    linear(d,minD,maxD,maxO,minO)

    after this:

    target = effect(“Layer Control”)(“Layer”);
    x = target.position[0];
    y = value[1];
    z = target.position[2];
    [x,y,z]

    Or do I need to plug in some numbers first? This is the error I’m getting.

    After Effects warning: Expected: ;
    Expression disabled.

    Error occurred at line 5.
    Comp: ‘PEN’
    Layer: 8 (‘Dark Gray Solid 5’)
    Property: ‘Position’

    This is probably terribly simple. I just don’t know much about working with expressions.

    I really appreciate the help you’ve offered so far.
