The swf file is loading the text and placing it above the video layer. Flash allows interactivity, dynamic text, and can play videos (flvs at least and mp4s soon).

Correct, the person won’t rotate, but when you watch the footage, it will look like the person rotated.

I am seeing a lot of similar posts from you.
My advice is below.Research the following terms:
Non-linear editor
CompositingBuy an After Effects book and read it or at least go through the help files.
You seem confused about a lot of basic points about compositing and editing in general, as well as using After Effects.A few hours of research is going to be much more useful to you than posting here and waiting for responses. Once you understand how After Effects works, when you need an editing application instead of a compositor, and other issues—you’ll also be able to address your slow PC concerns.
Good luck and happy reading.
Wikipedia isn’t a bad place to start. -
Here is what I would do:
Create a pattern of the clothing in Photoshop or AE.
Make a few instances of it and mask each in different ways.
Convert them into 3D layers.
For a couple of the instances, move the anchor point to the base of the mask and position it on the character’s back. Animate rotations on the y axis to make it appear to rip open and flap.Animate the other instances flying away from the character and tumbling on multiple axes.
Animate the shapes of the masks over time to make it more organic.
You could also try using some 3D lights or ramp effects and the like to simulate lighting and lighting changes.
Not as simple as a particle system, but it will get the job done and allow you to tweak the look exactly as you want. Of course, you’ll need to comp in blood effects also.

You are probably right. I do specifically remember reading that Photoshop would be 64 bit. I thought I had read it would leak into AE and some other CS4 apps, but maybe that was wishful thinking on my part.
-
What operating system are you using? Is it a 64 bit OS?
Also, I haven’t used CS4 yet, so I can’t guarantee it is 64 bit.
It was reported to be prior to release, but that may have changed. -
Are you talking about 64 bit processing or 64 bit color?
It definitely isn’t 64-bit color.
32 bit color is pretty impressive as is. -

October 24, 2008 at 8:32 pm in reply to: Problem with Keylight 1.2 plug-in… Please help!!!Go to AfterEffects>About After Effects (on a PC, I think it is File>About After Effects).
This will show you what version you are using. If it doesn’t say “Professional” after the version number, you don’t have it. -
Under Windows, yes.
Under OSX, not until CS5.
