Hmmm, I’m not familiar with the Vegas effect but to add a softness to a scene w/vignette I’d use an adjustment layer and add a fast blur with a low setting (it’s O.O by default) Depending on whether the blur was part of the vignette or not I’d either use the same adj. layer or add a new one. To add a separate vignette, add a new solid and select the square mask button. Hold your click and choose the ellipse. Double click the oval and it will automatically insert to fit the comp window. If you click off the mask and click on a handle you can move the points individually. If you double click on the mask you can move it as a whole and scale it.
The mask has twirl down options in the layer panel. Feather the heck out of it and increase the expansion until it’s right.
To add a soft glow, use “effect/stylize/glow”. Mess with the settings.
The order of the effects and layers can make a difference so play with that too.

You can easily loop in AE. When you have a movie file the way you want it, put it into a comp. Enable time-remapping on that comp. Alt click on the stopwatch by ‘time remap’ and click open the flyout menu on the round button with the play arrow in it. Choose “property” and then select “loopOut(type….)”. Hit return and stretch out the comp layer for the duration of the comp. Make sure you start and end frames are the same so no jumping occurs.
That should do the trick.

Interactive like a DVD menu? I’ve made my elements in AE and Photoshop (i.e. buttons) and then put them all together in Encore. Here’s a tut if that’s what you’re going for:

I know what you mean. I found that at one time too. Try using ‘Bezier Warp’. Once you get it the way you like just copy and paste to layers. I’d put all the separate layers in a comp and then time remap it so I could speed and slow the flipping of the pages.

Can you make as many comps of the circle as you want ‘pieces’ and then apply the radial wipe to a static percent (such as 15%,20%, etc)on each layer and then just sequence them to run one after the other until the circle is gone?

If you have the layers the way you want in PS, you can open up the composition in AE as is. Import as ‘cropped layers’ I believe. If you have some vector layers, you may need to tick the ‘continuous rasterize button’ in the layer panel.

It seems that the shots were shot three or four times with the cam locked in place. Then, the footage was recombined in that abstract way. That gives the illusion of all being from one shot but it’s just multiple takes.

Always make sure to clone/paint on the earliest frame possible. The effect only takes place from the point the scrubber was on when you applied it forward.

Set a time remapping keyframe on your shatter pre-comp at the very beginning of the shatter. After the shatter completes to what you want, copy the beginning keyframe and paste it after the completion. It will reverse. If you want a pause, keyframe at the completion, copy it, and paste it a few frames after.
