Never mind my post. Not sure what was going on but I just copy and pasted the masks from the first layer that was too small and applied them to a new solid that was big enough and then linked the tracking data. i then made the solid a track matte for the original layer. i have no idea what I was doing before that made this not work. 🙂

How I’ve always stabilized my footage using Mocha is to first track the footage in Mocha. I then take that tracking data into AE and apply it to the layer or a null that needs stabilized and then delete all of the keyframes (position, rotation and scale) except for the Anchor Point keyframes. If I applied it to a Null then I link the layer to the Null. This will stabilize the layer. However, there is no separate keyframes for the X or Y axis so how would I delete these? thanks.

Not sure how you do that. when I bring the tracking data into AE, the keyframes are as follows: anchor point, position, scale and rotation.
what am i missing here? how do i simply delete the y or x keyframes? thanks.

That wasn’t my question. Of course I can mess around with the program for hours on end only to find out it doesn’t do what I need it to. I would just rather ask the professionals on this site (who know more about the software than I do) if it can do what I need it to, rather than waste all that time futzing around with it myself.

Checking “Collapse transformations” on the scaled-up 1920×823 precomp layer in the render comp did the trick. Thank you very much. I really haven’t used that function that much so thats good to know. Thanks again.

What build of REDCINE-X are you running. This is a problem (depends on how you look at it) with the RED. after some updates they change he color science. usually for the better but in many cases like yours, you need the original color to remain the same throughout the life of the project. the only thing i can say is (if you have recently updated to a newer version of the REDCINE-X package) to uninstall your current version including the codecs that are prepacked with it and then replace it with the version you started with. the older version should still be up on their website. i have had this problem before but other than that, if that doesn’t fix it, i couldn’t say. hope this helps. thx.

I just had the lower res media set as a proxy. So i just un-check the proxy which in return links back to the original media.

Say you import a movie that is already cut together. I thought read somewhere along time ago that FCP or a similar editor could go through and find the cuts or edits and make a cut at those points automatically. I have never seen such a function but I thought I read something on it. I know I read that either Avid or FCP could look through clips and find the hole punch at the end and beginning of reels after you’ve received the scanned footage.
