Right, but You need a fairly fast computer to capture from sdi to DV on the fly. We use a g5 single 1.8 as our digitizing station.. that is good enough. Not sure if a G4 will work or not.

Hi Robin,
The answer to 1,2 3,4, is yes. I’m not sure I undersand the other question.. the CODECs you mention are the ones you will need for most things.
For what it’s worth we have had an extreme card for around a year now and have had very good luck with it, finishing 52 half hours for broadcast and international distribution.. mastering on Digibeta and capturing from Beta SP, DVCPro 50 and DV. No major problems to speak of.

Imagine being able to install either OSX or windows on the same machine…
They are really going to go head to head with Microsoft.. Is that a good idea? hard to say..

LOL… Glad the fix was simple. I only mentioned it because I have done it so many times myself… practically tearing down the whole studio trying to fix a problem only to find that I had simply plugged something in wrong…

Not sure what you are doing wrong Mark. Are you using one of the easy setups? Are you sure you have connected the correct cables to the deck.. (ie input not output) … It must be something simple…

Thanks for the reference.. I appreciate the try. Almost $1500 for that one.. There must be a simple gadget out there somewhere that allows simple selection between sources… I don’t need seamless switching…

Hi, You shouldn’t have to render. I seem to recall having this message and it was only a quirk of the “edit to tape” function. Did you try dragging the sequence to the “assemble” button on the edit to tape window?

That is good news… I wonder if fcp 5 projects will be readable by fcp 4.5? didn’t think so.. Guess I’m going to have to upgrade 5 systems… ouch.
