Decklink Extreme and UVW1800
I’ve hooked up my Betacam SP deck to my Decklink Extreme and I’ll be darned if I can get a signal to FCP4.5. All cables seem to be proper and I’ve changed the Decklink settings under System Preferences to Analog Y b-y r-y on both input and output.
In FCP 4.5 I’ve set my project and capture settings to NTSC 8bit. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?

Not sure what you are doing wrong Mark. Are you using one of the easy setups? Are you sure you have connected the correct cables to the deck.. (ie input not output) … It must be something simple…

You know sometimes, ya (me) feel like an idiot! I’ll bet I checked those connections a dozen times…so when I read your response to my post, I thought, “let’s check once more…”.
Gads I’m stupid. Sure enough I had the “TO DECK” connections on the outputs and FROM DECK on the inputs.
Thank you for taking the time to respond! Thank god it wasn’t my wife saying, “check the connections.” ! I would have never lived that one down.
Thanks again for stating the obvious.
(Put the “Oh Eff Eff” switch in the “Oh Ehn” position)

LOL… Glad the fix was simple. I only mentioned it because I have done it so many times myself… practically tearing down the whole studio trying to fix a problem only to find that I had simply plugged something in wrong…
