I haven’t purchased Motion 5 yet. It sounds like I could actually create a speed control for this preset in Motion 5, which would then show up in FCPX. How difficult is that? I’ve never used Motion; lots of After Effects, but no Motion.

Not too sure about SSDs at this point. I put one in my Mac Pro as a system drive and it was very snappy! Until it died. It lasted only 10 months. Yes, I had it backed up, and yes, OWC is replacing it under warranty… but it is actually the first drive that has ever died on me in over 10 years in this business. One would think that ‘no moving parts = better longevity’, but apparently not.

Thanks, Mike! (Nothing like responding 6 months later) I shot this with an HVX200 with a Letus Extreme lens adapter. I am now shooting all my corporate stuff with a Panasonic GH2. The Letus lent a kind of organic texture to the video that I miss. I don’t miss the big, bulky rig.

Thanks, James. I ended up just duplicating the whole project (that’s what I do for each revision anyway). Then when I finished the changes in the new version, I went back to version 1 to reference the settings I had used previously. I’m not sure if it’s possible to copy and paste audio enhancements.

Thanks, Erik. The shoot is long since over 🙂 but I appreciate the reply! The lens check was set to “off” when I picked the camera up, so that was nice. I think the shoot went well, although I haven’t reviewed all the footage or done any editing yet. I was able to use my new Olympus – M.Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4.0-5.6 Lens; got some great shots with it. I really enjoyed using the AF100 –particularly the ability to easily change the frame rate with the little scroll wheel on the back. I was able to monitor via HDMI and SDI simultaneously, which is very cool. Unfortunately, the build quality seems to be a step down from the HVX200. The scroll wheel, memory card cover and the hand grip all seem very cheap and plasticky. The image looks great, though; that’s the most important thing.
