If I understand him correctly, Alex sees his whole timeline, but it is only taking up 2/3’s of the space available in the timeline window. I get the same behavior here.

If you are capturing directly to a Quicktime format and have transcoding turned off, you should be OK. You’ll have to restart FCPX for the media to show up in the event library.

[Dave Brandt] “I use sparse images for all my clients. you can specify the size to be as big as the hard drive they reside on, but the great thing about sparse images is that they only use up as much space as the data inside them. I have around 20 disk images on my 2TB raid and there is plenty of space for more.
The great thing about images is that I have everything belonging to that client on this image. Graphics, text files, review notes etc etc. It is a very tidy way of working, and makes backup and sharing a breeze.
just try it out, create sparse image in disk utility, specify the size as big as you want. if you specify larger than the hard drive capacity it will be ok until the image grows too large in which case you will be asked to move it to a larger disk.”Dave, thanks for sharing. This sounds like a great way of working! Do the disk images mount automatically or do you manually mount the one you want to work from?

I typically go through and keyword my footage to organize it by scene, then go into the scene collections and narrow it down further by marking favorites, which I then add to the timeline for editing.

[Steve Crow] ” I’ve never encountered this myself but I guess one thing you could try next time is to turn off all the overheads and just see if you can light with your LED’s – failing that you have to use gels to make your LEDs more fluorescent like (green?) so that they match better.”
Turning off the overheads is a good idea. I typically add some minus-green gel to my LED’s to make skin tone look good.
