I wouldn’t map the video over the model as a texture. As you discovered, it will lose it’s quality when zoomed in. I’d just create a mask over the footage and then track it as you zoom away from the airplane. Sometimes, you gotta get your hands dirty with keyframes 🙂

Did you set your disk cache up? I haven’t even done that and mine seems to run pretty snappy already. Some of the old sluggish UI quirks from CC are still around, but all in all, AE starts up WAY faster. Still making my own opinions tho. My friend who has been testing it for the past few months prior to release said even the beta version was a big improvement in speed and he works on a Mac Pro, not sure the specs.
It’s brand new, so I’m sure there are a a few things to work out across the board.

Maybe he means a typewriter effect. That’s very doable with text animators. There’s even a preset for it in the presets folder.

I second Matthew’s thoughts exactly. I do 60 for about that much at 720p. The company I usually work for, sells the videos for something between $8 and $12k.
