    For YouTube –
Usually, (working with HDV here) – I start with a render/export of my sequence in Pro Res and throw it into Compressor.

    apply the settings for
H.264 – under the Quicktime settings

change the size to 1280×720 (recomended – Ive noticed that YouTube sometimes skips a bit with 1080 files)

    and audio to 41.00 AAC

I think it looks pretty good. I use it for most of my vids under 9-10 min…And after Youtube finishes the processing – you can select the HD setting.

    Yes –

    FCP launches fine –
It just does not recognize my FW control when the settings are changed to capture DV NTSC.
    AND
If I attempt to open the Log & Capture window while in a DV setup I crash & burn.

…works fine on another machine with the same settings and FW cable.
Just stinks to transfer back to mine.

Thanks guys – I think Recapture is going to be the way to go –
I just tried QT conversion – All audio is way outta sync.

    Now –

    FCP 5.1.4
Shooting and Capturing through Sony HDR FX-7 >>HDV 1080i60 (1440×1080).
-Set Camera up for DV out.
-Change Easy Setup to DV Anamorphic.

    Now on my machine –
When launching FCP it doesnt recognize the Firewire.
If I continue and try to open Log & Capture…Instant Crash.
(Works fine when Easy Setup is back to HDV)

I think its just local to my main machine…I Successfully did it on another…Just a pain.
I tried trashing Prefs and restarting…still no luck now what?

I dont think theres any effect for that look. Im pretty sure you have to animate them.
It would probably look beter if you animated it in After Effects and used expressions…you could even make it like a rolodex or something.
All your pictures should be cropped the same size too for it to look right. (like how itunes has its artwork)

The treated footage is going back into the HDV 1080i60 Sequence from FCP where the footage originated. I am viewing widescreen in FCP and Pixel Aspect preview is on in AE.
…Just when it goes back into FCP its wider than my original widescreen…

  • Does this help? I think the same thing happend to me…Just have to re-install.
