Which is the best way to do this? —

I am trying to convert Sony HDV1080i 60 to DV (FOOTAGE ONLY/ NO SEQUENCES STARTED) — so all my footage is in the same format.
I know that I should have downcoverted on capture – but I didnt realize that I was recieving any other formats.

So – whats the best way to do this?

-Can I use compressor with no sequences?
    -QT conversion?
    or recapture the downconvert?

Recapture. It’s the best way to keep the tc integrity for further recaptures/onlines.

Thanks guys – I think Recapture is going to be the way to go –
I just tried QT conversion – All audio is way outta sync.

    Now –

    FCP 5.1.4
Shooting and Capturing through Sony HDR FX-7 >>HDV 1080i60 (1440×1080).
-Set Camera up for DV out.
-Change Easy Setup to DV Anamorphic.

    Now on my machine –
When launching FCP it doesnt recognize the Firewire.
If I continue and try to open Log & Capture…Instant Crash.
(Works fine when Easy Setup is back to HDV)

I think its just local to my main machine…I Successfully did it on another…Just a pain.
I tried trashing Prefs and restarting…still no luck now what?

Quit FCP, unhook your camera, set it up to downconvert to dv. Turn it off. Hook it up to the computer, Turn it back on. Launch FCP.

Completely unhoook the camera. Does FCP launch then?

    Yes –

    FCP launches fine –
It just does not recognize my FW control when the settings are changed to capture DV NTSC.
    AND
If I attempt to open the Log & Capture window while in a DV setup I crash & burn.

…works fine on another machine with the same settings and FW cable.
Just stinks to transfer back to mine.

Hmm, sounds like the settings are wrong on your FCP.

Instead of logging and capturing, can you preview your footage OUT of FCP through the camera?
