  • The highest quality export out of AVID is *Same as source*…it exports a native file in QT format with *Meridien / DV / Whatever* AVID codec you’re using. (I’ve only used DV and Meridien, but I’m sure there’s at least 1 or 2 more possible codecs).

I do some back and forth with our AVID Meridien system and I can render right out of AE with the AVID Meridien codec, and AVID does the *fast import*…super quick, and you can do 1:1 resolution if you need it.

As far as DV, I’ve not rendered out of AFX for the AVID DV system, but I’m sure there’s a codec available in the Quicktime output settings for DV.

No…not radioactive, just really nice interviews composited into boxes moving and with some lighting effects.

  • I was using the DVD player on my PC to verify things, I burned it and it works fine.

I don’t have anything to add, except I thought I was the only one who remembered Dr. Katz! I love that show!

That does seem like it would work, assuming that at some point in the rotation I would get a value of 33.3% and 66.6%, I guess I should make my keyframes significantly spaced apart to get close to a 33.3% value.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll try it!

I have a potential idea…as I had the exact same problem not to long ago.

Check in your *info* pallette, are you playing at real time? If not, the audio will be out of sync of the video within after effects, but not in your render. You will notice a black “real-time” or a red notification that you aren’t in real time.

Your options to see a RAM preview with audio in real time is to lower the resolution and scale of your preview window until your machine will play the comp at real-time.

This worked for me, and I hope it works for you…I think the idea is that AE will play frame for frame…real time when it can, but when it can’t…it just plays less frames per second, it doesn’t skip any to play at real time.

Let me know if I helped.

[promoboy] “be sure to watch the recent Media Composer webcast at Avid”

I clicked on the link…and it took me to their webcast site, but the links are dead. Are they available on archive or only live? I wanted to watch the one on HD, but was unable to make it during that timeframe.
