What is the trick to getting all your settings to stay the same between opening and closing projects. Stuff like windows in the sam e size & place, same font in timeline…stuff like that. I can set them up and “save all” but as soon as i switch to anther project they all go back. What do I throw away or save to satop this from happening?

Not sure what version you’re using…but with Media Composer, it works for me to use workspaces.

Go to your settings tab in your project window and make sure *all settings* is selected, go down to workspace and there should be a icon beside one of them, this is the current one your using. Double click it and click *save workspace now*.

That works for me…I have 4 different workspaces mapped to F9-F12 for audio editing, effects editing, standard editing and capturing.

Also, if you’re using MC, use Site Settings–it’s under the Special menu I believe. Set whatever you want up, then open the Site Settings box and drag the settings from the Settings tab of your main project bin to the Site Settings box. This will make whatever you drag there an overall setting for all projects and should keep things consistent.

Love the workspaces. They are incredible–if you aren’t really familiar with them be sure to watch the recent Media Composer webcast at Avid. They show you some neat stuff you can do with them.

[promoboy] “be sure to watch the recent Media Composer webcast at Avid”

I clicked on the link…and it took me to their webcast site, but the links are dead. Are they available on archive or only live? I wanted to watch the one on HD, but was unable to make it during that timeframe.

Nevermind, it popped up awhile after I clicked on it.
