The best way I’ve found to do this is import the layered PSD you are animating (in my case, anyway) and make sure you import it as COMP SIZE…this places the anchor point at the exact same place on all layers…then distribute in Z space and scale to fill screen.
That is the best workaround besides buying the Zakwerks plugin.

In the time control panel, you’re looking for the *RAM Preview* button, not the *play* button. I believe it is all the way to the right. Keyboard shortcut is *ZERO* on the KEYPAD.

Hey Daniel,
We’re shooting 30i and I’m on an AVID Meridien system which only has 30i capabilities. My export is Same as Source to retain the highest quality picture. I’ve tried to revise my export to do a single field export…but the quality loss is significant. It doesn’t seem to deinterlace, but just remove an entire field. There are no other deinterlacing options in my version of AVID.
The text won’t render as interlaced unless there is movement. If I do a position movement…it is interlaced (visually). If I leave it still…both fields fall in the same place, so it doesn’t have any *banding* to remove.

Since you can’t plug the card directly into the box…can you use the usb-card adapter so you can keep shooting. I’d hate to tie up the cam to transfer media.

You HAVE to use XDCAM transfer software to copy the BPAV folder from the card, right?
Because…I’m thinking someone could create a box with a pcmcia slot that has a script running to copy to small internal 2.5 drive and have a basic screen that displays copying/complete could be MUCH cheaper than a laptop, and so much more compact.
Has anyone thought of this idea? Built a prototype? Anyone interested in buying one if it existed?

You are ABSOLUTELY right…I changed the compressor of the sequence to *animation* and it cleared up perfectly…I didn’t realize the compressor of the sequence had that kind of impact. Makes sense though!

It doesn’t matter what size…it’s doing it with JPG images of 3008×2000 – 3264×2176 – 2177×2996 (those are the 3 images I’ve been using and having problems with)
I understand that I don’t NEED to have it 3-4 times larger than the SEQ…I’m trying to understand what FC is doing so I can be more prepared when I have to work on a Final Cut system. I’m natively and AVID editor forcing myself to work with Final Cut to broaden my capabilities!
Further testing has shown that I can’t seem to replicate the problem when I use a sequence of a HD resolution. It is only having the problem with SD SEQs.

I have a follow up to this…I’m trying to do something the same as Matt….
You mentioned not to flag your shots as anamorphic. How do you do that through Final Cut? I can’t find anything in the clip properties that show a pixel aspect ratio.
