    Sorry Shane,

    from Matrox Release Notes – July 22, 2009 –

“When working in Adobe After Effects, selecting a Matrox MXO2 10-bit
Output Mode for your video preview is not supported. As a workaround,
    choose a Matrox MXO2 8-bit Output Mode instead. (Ref# 47283)”

I was mistaken…I thought it was a final cut issue…not AE.

I haven’t tried 10-bit in FInal Cut. I’ll try that when I get into the office Monday.

I tried…opening in QT properties says it’s 29.97…so does Final Cut…still won’t play. I’ll work with it and post if I find a solution.

Also…just to clarify. You say timeline needs to match. What if I’m playing from the viewer? Does that bypass the timeline settings for preview devices like the MXO2 or Kona output cards?

Pro-Res is 1920×1080…like the footage coming from the Mark II camera.

It is a known issue with the MXO2 that 10 bit doesn’t work, so you have to output with 8 bit.

These are my settings…but still no playback, only scrub updates to my monitor.

In my transcode settings in Export->Using QT conversion…I did select the frame rate to be 29.97.

Everything is right with the exception of the view->video playback

    I don’t have 1080i 29.97…I only 1080i 59.94 8 or 10 bit YUV.

But it is playing back 1080i footage from my HDV cam correctly. Just not the Mark II footage.

    Sorry Shane,

I’m referring to FOOTAGE from the Mark II. It comes out of the camera in a QT container with the h264 codec…I transcoded to prores and am having this issue.

By background processing…do you mean how compressor takes over Final Cut? Because it seems now in v7 that it does allow you to keep editing while it works in background.

[Dewi Evans] “I must be doing something wrong to get this ‘lose renders’ popup as I build a multilayered looks/effects”

You’re not…apparently this is a function of Final Cut…seems horrible, but check out this post that I had some time ago.

Why would you use “share” over “send to” ?

You’ll also want to know what AVID codecs he is using. I had to do this for an old AVID Meridien system…and those are legacy codecs that are buried in AVID’s site!
