    haha!

Any suggestions on HOW I should be doing it? 🙂

The workaround I found is to use the speed tool – s s s

That is how I do all my speed changes and it doesn’t ripple.

I thought I had tried the menu option of changing speed since the FCS3 upgrade.

Noone even mentioned the send to compressor function. Transcoding a sequence while you edit…not needing to create a bunch of interim files…this is IMHO worth the upgrade.

Hmm…didn’t notice this change…I think mine still ripples timeline.

Didn’t know about ctl+p. But do u know about the thumbnail way to do it? Add thumbnail as view in browser…click and drag to move thru clip, then hold in ctl when u let off mouse…sets new poster frame for clip.

I’m interested in following this thread…I’m running nvidia, and dual apple led monitors…and this mini-display port thing has put a kink in things.

If u upgraded to fcp 7 u would be able to send multiple sequences to compressor while continuing to edit in fcp. You don’t have to create intermediate file. It’s a major improvement in the suite workflow that I feel justifies upgrade to fcs3

I get this issue as well sometimes using a matrox mxo2 unit. Seems to begin after I turn on audio scrubbing.

Why not journaled? I’ve always been curious about that option.

    Ski,

You’ll probably get people more likely to help you if you don’t jump into the Final Cut forum and start bashing the software it’s dedicated to.

I’m from an AVID shop as well editing full time on FCP and I’ve found it “tweaky”. There are so many settings that if you don’t know what you are doing can make final cut run poorly.

As Walter said, there are major houses and tons of people using FCP…so people are having successes.

The fact that you aren’t means you need to either pay someone to come in and setup these machines for you, or patiently troubleshoot with the help of people like Jeremy, Shane and Walter (and several others) who have helped me a ton in troubleshooting my issues in transition from a PC and AVID.
