I’m having a bit of a nightmare with Prores. I shot a video on the 5D mark 2 and I’m simply trying to convert to ProRes 422 (HQ) for FCP editing.

When I use Mpeg Streamclip, the image is coming out a bit darker and quite noisy.

When I use Media Manager in FCP, the image is coming out very close to original with hardly any noise BUT for some reason the pixel size is changing from 1920×1080 to 1888×1062. See snapshot:

I have no idea why this is happening???

I don’t want to use compressor as it’s doing the same thing and takes much longer.

Anyone know what I’m doing wrong???

That’s just QT reporting incorrectly. Take a look at the frame size in FCP. I am sure it will be 1920×1080.

Also, why not use the free log and transfer plugin from Canon, or check out Grinder.

Use EOS log and transfer…not mpeg streamclip
