At that PAR, you probably should be doing field rendering. Make sure you have the dominance correct.

    Jeremy,

Its less of a hum and more electronic interference. I’ve tried to isolate the cable run as much as I can but there are power cords and other cables running all around.

Do u think a hum eliminator would remove other “interference”type sounds?

    Had same problem.

Check out this posting…3rd post down was my solution.

  • The grey bar is the duration of a frame…you can’t shorten a clip less than one frame. Is that what u were referring to?

  • That’s the plan Jeremy.

Thanks so much for all your help…you and Shane are an amazing resource for all of us.

BTW, what would it require to get a log and transfer option for GoPro footage? I use quite a bit of it, I’ve created droplets in Compressor….but I’d like to not have to archive the ProRes transcodes.

Is that something the software manufacturer has to create as a plug-in for FCP? Or can anyone develop something for that? I’d pay for it if just anyone could create the plug-in.

I believe Steve is wrong…a lot of formats shoot in 1080 progressive. Most (if not all) of them use a thing called segmented frames. (Psf) It’s like interlacing, but both *fields* represent the same moment of time. Here’s a link:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_segmented_frame

I don’t know a TON about this…but I’ve had experience with progressive formats in 1080 (GoPro footage – XDCAM HD422 30p) and they display back properly with my KONA and Matrox with the 1080 psf / 1080i and 1080 29.97p display settings.

  • I’m laughing at this discussion because it just confirmed what I thought. You can only reduce the frame rate…thanks for your guys help. I’m using gopro footage, so it’s transcoded from h264. I’ll just create one 29.97…then just speed up the clip I want at full speed.

[Zane Barker] “use disk utility to raid those 3 together. “

In what cases would you want to use a Mac RAID card and when would you do a RAID as you are describing?

I’ve always wondered why you would want to use a RAID card.
