Hey guys,

I’m jumping on this thread for clarification. I was under the impression that the uncompressed “animation” codec would state that it is animation in qt item info.

I’ve run into this situation before, where files I get say “none” as compressor.

My question, how do u know that “none” is animation codec?

I’m interested in this topic…I’ve been using matrox compress hd for all our h264 stuff, but can’t find a clean workflow from timeline in fcp to wmv.

I usually do use the Log and Transfer function, but this was some of the first footage I shot with 5D before the plugin existed for FCP. So I didn’t save it over correctly and the directory structure from the card is trashed, along with the THM files.

I know this topic is a bit out of date, but now with all our wonderful 5D footage that we get to work with, each clip starts at 0:00:00.00

Is this Spherico application still the best way to add clip name to TC overlay in FCP? Has Final Cut added this functionality natively, or is there a better way someone has come up with since this topic back in 09?

Luckily, Mac makes it super easy to create shortcuts in the sidebar of a finder window. I change these as my current project changes…takes just a few seconds to change/add/delete

I’m surprised that h264 @ 8Mbps looked horrible. Granted, thats the same bitrate that SD DVD usually runs at, but I routinely work in 8-12 Mbps and they look completely fine. I’d be more interested in how you “exported” that file?

Did you try to up the bitrate to something closer to Blu-ray numbers? 12-20Mbps?

Just to update, I found a timecode calculator and have been editing with the fullspeed 59.94 stuff until I find a shot that I want slomo’d, then I open calculator…multiply the current frame by 2 and get the resulting matching frame in my 29.97 conformed clips.

Not sure if there is an easier way, but thought I’d update the thread.
