ProRes Proxy Not Appearing on my List
Posted by Steve Price on November 15, 2010 at 5:03 pmHello Creative Cows,
I’m stuck at the very first hurdle of a new edit. I want to digitise some HD Cam footage using ProRes Proxy encoding.
I get control of the deck, but when I go the list of Capture/Input settings Prores Proxy isn’t there. The only 1080i ProRes options are AJA Kona LH 1080i 25 Apple ProRes 422 and AJA Kona LH 1080i 25 Apple Prores 422 (HQ).
I’m using FCP 7.0 and the footage was hot in 1080i 50.
All advice will be most gratefully received.
Thanks a lot,
Steve.

November 15, 2010 at 5:13 pmSince you said you’re using FCP 7.0, not 7.0.3, can we assume you recently upgraded to FCS3? If so, you need to uninstall and reinstall Kona drivers to the latest version, and you should update to the latest version of FCP too.

November 15, 2010 at 5:21 pmThanks David, you’re bang on with your assumptions, I have indeed recently upgraded to FCS3.
How do I uninstall and re-install my AJA drivers? Is this something a ‘creative’ like me can do without wrecking my machine and having a nervous breakdown?
Thanks again,
Steve.

November 15, 2010 at 5:26 pmThe uninstsller is right in the AJA app directory in your Applications folder. Download their latest and greatest at the AJA website. This is duck soup… AJA makes thus foolproof, so don’t sweat.

November 15, 2010 at 5:36 pmI’m afraid of women wielding swords, so the official knighting ceremony won’t be necessary. You can call me Sir David unofficially however if you’d like…

November 15, 2010 at 9:05 pmOf course, go right ahead. I’m a freelance director in the UK, I’m known for shooting large scale concerts. Last week I directed a 12 camera 1080i HD shoot of Grammy winner Imogen Heap at the Royal Albert Hall in London which had a web audience of half a million people. Other acts I’ve directed for across the world vary from Alicia Keys to the Qatari Philharmonic. My new website will up before Christmas, and the address will be stevieDVD.com . Catchy doncha think?
