One more question, how can I make text larger? I’m using a modified view using poster frame and thumbnail sequence view, but notes in my text field are very small. Also, if they go too long, they get cropped. Even with a hard return in the field.

What would it take to have you come and analyze our system and help set up something that works for us? We are south of Indianapolis.

Cost of the disc isn’t a HUGE concern for us…a functional, accessable, manageable backup system is. Keeping discs on a shelf like we do with tape seemed to be a good solution. Also, it’s an additional step to move all the data from disc to drive…and we have a VERY small team.

About 85 right now.

I’m on the fringe of my knowledge…but isn’t P2 MXF as well?
Also, can CatDV take advantage of the proxies that the optical records at the same time as the high-res?

Rolf,
Can u explain (or link me to) how people are using catdv to log xdcam optical discs? We have an ongoing filemaker pro log where each disc has a number…with fields regarding what content is on the disc. I’d like to move this to catdv, but just not sure exactly how to do so.

I just did this with my kids…lower end production, but I laid the song down in a timeline with a slap of tone at the beginning, exported to MP3, played that back on media player.
Then we recorded nat sound on camera when shooting…sync up the beep from nat sound and line it up in the sequence. It was pretty clean workflow for me. ALthough, it was just one song sung from different angles in different locations, so simple production.

You guys are missing the sarcasm…obviously it doesn’t give u any additional rights. My question was how many of us have our royalty free libraries in iTunes? Nobody I know…what DO I have in iTunes? Only music that can’t be used in video productions.
Apple seems to be making it easier and the path to piracy simpler for people who they seem to marketing this software to — prosumers. Probably a market who is less aware of the needs to license the music they want to use.

great…this helps alot! I figured it was the case to do less work until it’s siphoned down. My biggest question was really how to deal with the focal length changes between cuts. But if I’m cutting in FCP, I could just drop that layer behind and copy-paste the scale on those clips that are underneath the tighter shots…anyways…thanks for the input!

I’ve had several issues with audio sync and plural eyes has saved my life numerous times. Not sure if it will help in ur specific case…

This is the appropriate workflow for making h264, but no need to use compressor to make prores version…just flat export from fcp.
