Double tap on magic mouse is zoom to fit. Thats probably what you accidentally have done.

  • Sorry if I have missed it in the long thread but have you tried to empty the event and project folders on your HD and started FCPX clean ? Still crashing?

The only thing that take time is xdcam transfer to copy and make .mov files and a full XDCAM HD Blu Ray 25Gb as i use I think will take about 20 minutes. If you copy from a card it must read much faster. But thats all. FCPX now uses the files as they are. And the Yes that is my original source and only source. My security is a Raid 1 Cal Digit 4TB disc giving full protection but then half the storecapacity of = 2TB.
When finished I store on Western digital discs also Raid 1 full protection at least for important films.

I work with XDCAM HD and uses Sonys Xdcam transfer to “transfer” my clips to a folder on my external Disc I use for all editing. Importing it to FCPX 10.0.6 and choose not to copy files is what I do. Working with no trouble. Now (10.0.6)you can even choose to export your final work in XDCAM format if you want.

So if you choose LT as render format to perhaps get FCPX to work a little smoother will Export override that if you choose lets say Prores 422 HQ when exporting ? Or do I have to delete all render files before export?

  • If you still have the problem i would give this a try. Finish FCPX if open. Go to Final Cut Projects folder and look for the projects folder with the name of the project you tried to share something from. In that folder find the share folder. Trash everything in that.(this is where FCPX stores “shared” files) Start and see if something changed in behavior.

April 20, 2012 at 9:41 am in reply to: Change an FCPX effect in motion

Well it actually worked after tip from Noco Dave at tcp.co forum he wrote:

The CBBg and CBFg midtones have been rigged, to the “Amount” widget. If your not already, this is where you need to change them.
If you look at the output slider for the widget you’ll see the 4 little blue circles tagged to the slider. If you try to change the colours when the slider is in-between the tags you won’t be able to.
You need click on a tag to select it and change the value for that position on the slider, for each of the tags. Then the changes will stick.

But I had to use “save as” command and give the effect a new name. Trying to save the changes into the copy that opens up in motion from within FCPX did not take the changes.

  • Yes all the latest.

  • I duplicated my timeline/project and changed the properties to 1080p instead of 1080i and rendered and the picture quality now looks very good but the strobing phenomena is still there.
