The picture may look blurry because I blew it up quite a bit to display the wave form in the sky. The wave look is actually in my video as well but the flowers do look sharper than they appear in this shot. I think I will reshoot and re-evaluate the results taking in consideration either me or my camera is in need of attention :-).
Thank you for responding.

I agree with you. Once I went to manual focus, my blurry problems went away. This may be a stupid question, but how do you do a manual focus if you are zooming either in or out? I did do a manual focus on an object I wanted to zoom in on. I measured off the distance and used a focus chart to set the correct manual focus setting. Sure enough, once zoomed to the object, the focus was sharp but during the zoom, everything looked soft. Should I have been trying to adjust the manual focus while I was zooming as well?
Again, I appreciate your help. I will try to post a larger picture.

Hopefully, they will be clear enough to be helpful to you in helping me out. So you do not have to reread my first post:
Pictures 1, 2, and 3 are out of focus from my viewpoint and reflect the way most of the video looked. They were shot at the default F1 setting on the DVX100A using autofocus. Are there problems with auto focus for this type of picture? Picture 4 shot at 24P. Note the wavy pattern in the white sky. Is this normal? This was shot manual focus, F1 default setting, Z99, F2.8.

Again, thank you for taking the time to look at my problem.

I now use DV Rack on a laptop. However, before buying this package, I used a portable DVD player hooked up via S-video. I do not even begin to pretend to know if this was an acceptable way of monitoring but it did, at least, let me see on a larger screen what my camera was seeing and it was a cheap way to monitor.

If you do a search on this forum for “computer systems”, I think you will find a wealth of information. As you can probably guess, there is no one perfect answer. Some folk use laptops, others desktops. Same goes for software, cameras, microphones, editing equipment, etc. Again, if you search this forum, you can get some good hits on what people are using.
Have fun looking.

Thank you for the info. My head is tired from trying to figure this out so I will try your suggestion tomorrow when my mind has had a chance to clear.
