  • DVDA 3: How to change menu order?

I realize this has probably been asked a million times but a search of my manual and not having the slighest idea what to call what I am trying to do has limited my ability to find the answer on the forum.

I have finished my video project in DVDA. I have six menu items on the main menu. All I want to do is, once a menu item has played and it has returned to the main menu, have the highlight go to the next button rather than jump back to the first button in the menu list. This is driving me crazy because I know I have seen how to do this but, for some reason, I can’t find the answer.

As usual, I appreciate any help you can offer.

You can’t do it with a single menu. You COULD create several menus – all of which look identical but each one has a different item as the default value – and simply return to the appropriate menu upon leaving the clip via the end-action.

    Edward –

Please forgive me but I am confused by your answer. Does that mean because I have all menu buttons on a single main menu that I cannot specify the next menu button to go to. For instance if I am at the main menu and hit play for the first highlighted button “Mom’s Interview” and it plays through completion, I cannot set an end action to go to highlight the button for “Dad’s Interview” rather than the default which is to jump back to highlighting “Mom’s Interview”? As usual, I appreciate you taking the time to respond so quickly.

Basically, yes. There is ONE default menu button. This won’t change that based on what has been played. So simply make another copy of the menu with a different button as the default. It will LOOK like the same button but a different button will be highlighted by default.

I will admit I haven’t played with DVDA3 as much as I should have at this point but I don’t know of a way, other than duplicating the menu, to get a different option defaulted.

    Edward –

Thank you for the info. My head is tired from trying to figure this out so I will try your suggestion tomorrow when my mind has had a chance to clear.

Ok, did some experimenting tonight and you CAN do it with a single menu in DVDA 3 as follows:

    1) I dragged three separate clips to a menu
    2) Double-click the first clip and go to the “End Action” properties from there you have to change the Destination to the menu you just came from and then change the Destination Button to the button you wish to be highlighted.
    3) Go back to the menu, double-click the next clip, and repeat the above settings
    4) Repeat for all additional clips.

I didn’t know that feature was in there. Thanks for making me look deeper.
