    Hi Sean,

Your 7D is also recording in AVCHD, just another version. The issue is your shutter speed if you have slowed down your pan and it is still too juddery. The smaller cameras may not allow for control ouver shutter speed.

Take a look at the collection of footage here:https://vimeo.com/groups/72874/videos/sort:alphabetic

They were all taken with the AF100 camera, all recorded to AVCHD, and there is not an issue with motion. So it comes back to the movement of the camera by you, i.e., you are moving it too fast, or your shutter speed needs to be slower to allow for more motion blur.

Your reference to the poster that complained about the codec is not a scientific post, thus it is not well documented as a problem. What is documented in that post is that a person is having a learning curve issue on how to shoot with a camera and is not reflection on the codec at all, but more on his inabilities.

  • Hi,

That battery is for the HPX170, the HVX200 and the DVX100 series. Or in other words, no it will not work on your HMC150.

This site seems to be as good as any in answering those types of questions.

    Hi John,

Which cameras are you looking for? We have had a spike in sales on a number of models, but tell me what you are looking for and I can possibly point to a source. We had only a small delay in a couple of cameras due to the Earthquake, but the supply is back to what it was before, but demand is also up.

Try the AVCCAM Restorer. Put the card back into the camera and see if the camera detects those files. If so, something else is the culprit. If nott, run the repair clip function.

  • Hi,
[Roy Pearson] “I’m trying to capture a DVCPro tape from a rented HD1400 deck via firewire, but the 720p clips are showing up as 640×480 in FCP!

And you can confirm that it is DVCPRO HD? If it is then 640X480 is wrong, and there is something in your project setup that is leading it astray.

If I capture just just a small section it works fine and the clips come in 960×720, but if I capture a longer portion it goes to 640×480. Of course I’m using the correct FCP presets and device control, and I’ve gone through the deck menu settings to force 720p mode. help!”

Confirm what you have on the tape as it could be DVCPRO, DVCPRO50 or DVCPRO HD. The Machine should be able to tell you. But barring that, what camera did they use to shoot it? That too could help track down the mystery.

    May 31, 2011 at 6:36 pm in reply to: 24P mode… where?

You can do 24P in a 50Hz camera, but you will not have audio. You dial it up on the Variable Frame Rate Dial. I would suggest that you just shoot in 25P and if you ever have to convert, then do it then.

    Hi,

Go to https://www.panasonic.com/AVCCAM. Scroll down, you will find white papers there that will give you step by step instructions.

  • There is an excellent book written by Barry Green, available on his website, https://www.DVXuser.com and it goes through each of these settings in detail. It also comes with a CD with sample scene files and how they look, as well as pictures to show what the settings will do to the picture.

  • While Noah is correct about the recording speed and the camera not being able to utilize the speed in record, the UHS-1 cards would be faster in the offload. In that sense could be worth it especially with larger cards, offloads could take longer, but the UHS-1 would offload on a USB3 port at 90MBs.

We have a series of UHS-1 cards coming out that are produced for professional users. They will have some additional safety features built in. Coming in June.

April 20, 2011 at 12:08 pm in reply to: Tranferring Scene File Between Cameras?

Pretty sure that the scene files will not work right off the download, but you could try and open them on your computer and replace the AG-HPX300 header with one that is generated by your camera. To do this save a scene file to an SD card, open it on a computer copy the header in that file and paste it into the HPX300 file, thus replacing the one that identifies the file as being one for the 300. If this doesn’t work you can always do it the hard way and input the numbers manually.

As far as Panasonic making ones specifically for the HPX371, well I don’t know. The 370 is not my product area at this point, I am now in charge of the AVCCAM product line and the two small P2 handhelds, the 170 and the 200.
