Hi,

Go back and read the instructions on the page. It says to first save the scene files in your camera to an SD card. Then that SD card into you computer and drill down through the folder set to where you find the scene files, last one in the folder sequence. Notice how the files aree named. Save your new files with these same names. The scene file folder can only hold 4 different scene files, they need to be named SCENE1.TXT or something like that. Copy the name as your camera wrote it.

Providing you are downloading for the camera that the scen file is written for, it should upload if you have followed the directions. The files as they are on the site cannot download the folder structure. YOU have to create that locally with your camera.

I mentioned the scene being 11 stops, that is where DRS can come in handy. The 500 is a little more low light sensitive without gain as it has bigger pixels and the range between the two cameras is similar unless you look at the digital super gain and the DRS.

They may be similar but they won’t be the same, there a a lot of controls on the 2000 that are simply not there in the 500, so depending on the look you choose, you may not even get close with the 500. You might during post though.

The 2000 is sharper, but you would expect that for a camera that costs $13000 more, so don’t be shooting the smae guy at different angles and expect them to cut flawlessly. Use the 500 for the cut-aways and b-roll stuff.

There is a bracket and currently with the P2 Gear we handle the requests as the cameras are purchased with the P2 gear. As the P2 Portable becomes avaiable in February, we are expecting more of a demand and are working on a commercially availbable product with a model number and a price tag.

So yes there is something that works today with the P2 Gear and there will be something for the P2 portable.

Hi,

Think of the DRS as the Easy Button for controlling wide dynamic range in a run and gun scenario. No Easy Button is going to be a replacement for a talented eye and a capable DIT. The DRS can add noise in perfect scenes but can make impossible to get scenes possible. Those scenes are the ones that have about 11 stops or more of dynamic range. The algorithm runs a comparative analysis from sector to sector on the picture. Use only as necessary.

Hi Jeff,

While the 2700 and the 2000 are not my product, the differences between then are many. Starting with the DSP, the CAC, and the contollability of the camera signal is more akin to the Varicam at $45,000 vs the HDX900 which is similar to the HPX2000. The 2700 has a built-in swicth to AVC-Intra which on the 2000 is possible but adds to the cost by an additional $3000. There are other differences like having the variable frame rates and being able to ramp. And those are the ones that come easily this early in the am.

Hi,

You should go to wwww.panasonic.com/p2hd look under the resources link and download the workflow paper that is relative to the NLE you are working with. When you offload the cards, make sure that you keep the folder structure just as it is and the lastclip.txt file should stay with the folder as well.

And next time you post your should post in the HVX-HPX forum as those are P2 cameras and you will get more replies, faster.
