Hi,
Go to http://www.panasonic.com/p2hd. Look under the resources area and you will find a Metadata Workflow paper, that has lots of pictures and step by step instructions. You will need to have either P2CMS, also downloadable from this same site under the download area, or a third party product like P2 Log Pro from Imagine Products or Raylight from DV Film.

Sometimes it takes the Holidays to lighten the normal traffic so this shows up. If I didn’t respond before, I do apologize. Normally I do try to catch these things and attempt to get them solved.
Got your serial number and stuff today, sent it along to the Rebate folks to find the status. First step. Then we figure it out.

The deadline for filing for those claims was the end of November. But there are always reasons to make exceptions. The reason for the deadline is so that we don’t end up working this budget(the one assigned to this promotion) for years. And trust me I have had a customer get very upset with me for not staisfying a 2 year old claim that they had just gotten around to filing.
That said, our rebate company has not changed, the deadlines just got a little tighter. You may contact me at crittendenj at us. panasonic.com.

If you cannot get the machine to obey the Print to Tape command, jus pur a couple more seconds on the front of your timeline of color bar and put the machine into record. Make sure that from your 23.98 time line you have told it to add back in the 2:3 pulldown. This step is not mentioned above and sometimes easily overlooked. Make sure the machine is set up for 720P input. and you should be good to go.
As far as the 1400 being able to do an insert edit, it will only do so under RS422 control not under 1394. Just to keep things clear.

Hi,
The HMC150 is not switchable at all. The HPX170 can be upgraded for US customers with Authorized cameras in the US to be switchable. This can be done follwoing their registration for the Extended warranty.

If you go to our website, look undert the support tab, find servicer, put in the model number and your zip code you will find a servicer near you. Frankly I would have sent it in after the first experience.
When ever you have a borrowed camera you should clean the heads before use as you don’t know the tape formulation that the other users used. You should start with a clean slate. Even with using the same tape all the time you do need to clean the tape path like every 50 hours. Of course tape is tape, and storage really affects the emulsion on the tape which can clog heads.
Sorry for your issues, but it does sound like service is in order.

Did you upload any metadata that would have given the files a name other than the camera’s naming convention? If not, you are somewhat stuck in trying to figure out how to use the files. If you had uploaded the metadata files you could have virtually any name you found to be useful. You could consider looking for things by time of day, if of course the camera’s clock had been set properly. Or you could look by time code.
Anyhow for a good overview of how to use and set metadata there is a paper on the Panasonic site http://www.panasonic.com/p2hd under the resources tab. Take a read and then next time you use the camera take a few minutes and do a little metadata upload. If you don’t want to go through that much trouble, you can at least do the user clip name in the camera and even that would help.
