    It’s progressive only… 30hz.

    I wish there was a 59.94 option.

I have found customer support from Blackmagic to be excellent… I had an audio question with the MiniMonitor, posted it on their forum and had a call from them within 24 hours.

[Lance Bachelder] “My PC is built around the Gigabyte Z77 with Thunderbolt – tried a couple of times to “hack” it but no luck – I’m sure it’s me, but I’ve been building workstations for 20 years and it’s harder than it looks to get a stable hackintosh working.”

    Lance,

I found the Z77 to be really easy to hack…

I built a Hackintosh based around the GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP5, it also has thunderbolt… It works exceeding well. Driving three monitors with the GTX 680 2gb. The Thunderbolt works flawlessly with my Blackmagic Intensity Extreme as well as the Promise Pegasus.

The best part, dual booting Windows 8 / Macintosh off super fast SSD’s

The motherboard can be found on New Egg:

    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128559&Tpk=GIGABYTE%20GA-Z77X-UP5&IsVirtualParent=1

A great website resource for this motherboard:

This thing is FAST and way cheaper and more expandable than any current Macintosh.

    This is GREAT news Gary!

    Let the hacking begin!

[Gary Bettan] “I’ve read the same stuff, but I’ve also spoken to product & engineering guys who tell me there is no hard technical reason why this can’t work. It’s one of Apple (and possibly Intel as well) not giving them access or support to make it happen. So it stays on my wish list!

    Gary,

Great article on Thunderbolt… However, according to everything that I have read, it seems it’s not possible to have CUDA computations from an PCI expansion chassis over Thunderbolt.

    Bummer.

Got an email from CalDigit this morning saying that they will help me change out my switch.

I’m hoping they will make this right… Because I do really like their products.
