I’m a very loyal customer and have never been pushed to a point to call out a company in public.

    BUT

I will never buy a CalDigit product again…

I’ve been in this industry for over 20 years… and every other manufacturer that I have worked with during this time has always offered a fair solution when an equipment failure happens… EVEN if the product is out of warranty.

    Not so with CalDigit.

Their so called “support” of a $17k product has been laughable.

Just wanted to warn anyone who is considering a future purchase.

It’s a shame to hear this. When Jon Shilling was with Cal Digit, things were teriffic. Cal Digit makes very good products, but like you, if I can’t get support, it means absolutely nothing.

Sorry to hear this. Sorry that Cal Digit no longer has a forum on Creative Cow.

Absolutely… When I bought the SuperShare system two years ago, I was so impressed with their customer support.

It was the only cost affordable SAN solution that could push the pixels I needed for higher than HD resolution I work in.

Most of my work is higher than 4K and I need the bandwidth and shared storage.

That system did great work for multi-screen presentations for The United States Capitol Visitors’ Center, United States Institute of Peace, The New York Historical Society, Gettysburg and The National Infantry Museum.

When I emailed and called multiple times last week and please understand I don’t mean any offense by this… I was treated like a wedding Videographer who had just bought a Mac.

I understand my SuperShare system is four months shy of being out of warranty… But I still have yet received a response about a system switch out (which I would pay for) while my switch and hub is being repaired.

As I stated earlier… Been in this business for a LONG time and have never been treated like this after putting a HUGE chunk of change out.

Hell, even the Scitex Cube guys were trying to do the right thing in their last days.

However, I will say ANY SAN I build in the future will be based on MetaSan. Those guys rock.

Meant to say my SuperShare is four months shy of already being out of warranty…

Got an email from CalDigit this morning saying that they will help me change out my switch.

I’m hoping they will make this right… Because I do really like their products.

Please do keep us updated. My own experience with CalDigit tech support has been superb. They have helped me way past my warranty period, when I had a very difficult-to-trace problem that turned out to be a cable which simply failed over time, despite not having been moved for 2+ years. I’m sorry you had a different experience. They’d better fix it, fast! For me, tech support is THE MOST important variable when choosing a vendor. Even more important than the performance numbers.
