Thanks. I have looked at stuff like this before, but not this specific website. My main question for this is: if I attach the camera to one of these packs, can I then attach the pack to my tripod? Or will it just perch defenselessly on top? Haha.

What I have done multiple times is solo each audio layer and render it separately, for the whole timeline. Then solo the next layer, render it, solo the next one, render it, etc. Then render the video with no audio. Then create a new project and drop everything back into place. I don’t know why this works, but it does, or it has for me every time.

Make sure you’re rendering each audio layer as the same filetype (wav, mp3, etc.). I think that is the problem, if Vegas is trying to comprehend multiple audio filetypes at once.

I have experience this several times. Vegas just doesn’t like audio. It’s not an audio editor specifically. If you have a lot of layers of audio, it will take a lot of computing power to calculate that all at once. Though in my experience, the audio was dropped when playing a rendered file AND in the timeline.

It seems to me that physical technology has not quite yet caught up with 4K. Is there a particular reason you want to shoot in that resolution, other than simply the clarity of picture? As far as I know, Vegas doesn’t render out to 4K resolution, and everything you do will be compressed back down to 1080p anyway. But if you absolutely must use 4K footage, I anticipate the need for multiple external harddrives to store your footage, and a computer with the power to withstand it. I know that’s not much help specifically, but it’s my general advice.

  • P.S. I have actually found that re-editing my lost Vegas sequence has allowed me to better edit it, as if I was given a second chance. Like some higher power said, “come on, man, you can do better than that.” Though I can still understand irritation, believe me.

  • I have had this problem a number of times. I think it must be some sort of “glitch” in the Vegas software. It is unpredictable and, as you know, very frustrating. I once worked on a scene for one of my feature films for weeks, only to be finishing it up, have the program crash on me randomly, and then never be able to open it again.

I am sorry that this happened to you but in my experience, there is nothing you can do. The file is simply corrupted and unreadable. It likely was not your fault. I have tried and tried to find out why this happens and there simply does not seem to be any reason other than the fact that you may have been pushing your computer too hard by having both Vegas and C4D open at once (though I don’t know what your computer’s capabilities are).

If I were you (and I’m sorry to post this in the Vegas forum), I would scrap Vegas and start using Premiere or some other editing software. I used to defend Vegas anytime a professor or colleague or someone gave it crap, and while it’s still a great program, it is very easily ticked off. I have been using Premiere for a few months now and it is a breath of fresh air for sure.

Are you saying the transparency on the C4D clip is not working correctly, like it isn’t actually transparent? If so, you’ll need to right-click and choose Properties, then tell it the correct alpha channel.

If this isn’t your issue, then I’m sorry but I’ve never come across something quite like that. Good luck.

Seems I have managed to solve my own problem once again.

For those with similar issues, you just have to name all your HTML documents “index.htm” and put them in different folders. For example, I would create a folder called “news” and call the News page “index.htm” and place it in that folder. Then the browser will know to look for an “index” file when typing “https://www.whatever.com/news”.

Never mind, haha. Figured it out mere seconds later.

For anyone having the same issue, right click the black-and-white checkered box next to a path and choose “Unfold All,” then you can select the cap and use the polygon selection tool to select and material-ize that face.

    SOLVED

Apparently, something must have been wrong with the SD card I had in the camera. I swapped it out for a different one and it works fine now. I wish the camera had been able to tell me, “dude, your card’s messed up,” rather than letting me continue to be confused.

But, good. At least it’s not something wrong with the camera. 🙂
