I understood every word of that except “EXR half float,” haha. Would you mind explaining this?

Other than that, thanks. I have noticed the gradient issue (when using feathered masks, color gradients, glows, blurs, lens flares, all sorts of stuff) so that’s why I’m looking into the 16-bit thing. So far, I’m finding it’s not a TERRIBLE thing to have these big files, since not every single shot is a VFX shot…but that’ll change potentially when that’s not the case, in other scenes of the movie, haha.

    Thanks again,

May 18, 2018 at 1:54 am in reply to: Premiere won’t open 2015 file

UPDATE: I have been able to open the file. I apparently just needed to wait for all the footage to conform in the bottom-right status bar area before replacing all the missing files. I don’t know why that worked, other than maybe because it was too much for my computer to process all at once. I’ll update this thread again if the file continues to be a pain in the butt.

  • Thanks so much. Does this mean I will be able to “replace footage” for my original iPhone shot with the new encoded one and not have any problems?

August 9, 2017 at 6:17 pm in reply to: Project size change question

I guess I would suggest nesting the entire video before changing the project frame size, so that the effects are already “flattened” and then the video will shrink or grow as one unit. Granted, if you zoom in, the effects (and video, and everything) will be more pixelated and whatnot. But it’s the first solution that comes to mind.

Thanks, Greg. I’ve already watched all of those videos. That’s actually how I got up to where I am currently. They describe actually painting tape to be slightly lighter or darker than my original green, but I felt that was too time consuming and a waste of money. I instead opted for the orange tape after I saw it used theoretically-successfully in big budget Hollywood films. Just having a bit of trouble so far getting it to work right. I haven’t tried the suggestions above yet, but will soon.

Great, suggestions, Simon. Thank you. Like I said above, I didn’t want to spend the time putting a bunch more tracking markers up if it wasn’t even detecting these 3, but you make a good point. I will also try the white background keying idea.

    Thanks!

September 21, 2016 at 7:55 pm in reply to: 60fps slow motion – not working?

The clips all read as 59.whatever frames per second, that’s the weird thing. I’ve had an issue in the past where I’ve recorded at 60i instead of 60p, so I understand that. But this wasn’t the case this time. Just a bizarre situation.

Thanks, Dave. I’ll take a deeper look at that. I’ve never had this problem before, but I guess it’s possible I just made a fluke. What I’m doing right now is just frame-blending the “missing frames” and it seems to be working out okay.

What do you mean by “over”? I shot my footage at 60fps. Though I’m very slightly assuming at this point that I did something wrong at that initial filming stage, because I don’t know why else this would be happening.

  • Right-click on a clip in your Project tab (where all your footage is listed) and click “Link Media,” then find your original footage on your computer using the dialog box that pops up. If all your footage is in the same folder on your computer, then after you link one, Premiere should find the rest automatically.
